“ Missing someone isn’t about how long it has been since you have seen them or the amount of time since you’ve talked. It’s about that very moment when you’re doing something and you wish that they were right there with you.
“ excuse me while I fall apart,
don’t flatter yourself sweetheart

do you have to make this so hard?
you’re so good at pretending everything is alright. — Matchbook Romance
"There is no such thing as the perfect soul mate. If you meet someone and you think they’re perfect, you better run as fast as you can in the other direction, ‘cause your soul mate is the person that pushes your buttons, pisses you off on a regular basis, and makes you face your shit."

"What defines a best friend? What are the requirements to be a good best friend? How many hours a week does it entail? Stupid questions that have no answers. A best friend is not defined by how many times they talk on the phone, or how many hours they hang out together. It is not defined by how many sleepovers they gossip at, or how many inside jokes they have. There are no requirements or laws that state that a good best friend must hang out with them every weekend, or tell each other every little detail. A best friend is a matter of opinion. It is the person who has been there for you through everything, not just through the fun things, or the little things. It is the person that you call when you are at your absolute worst, it is the person who saves you when you didn’t even notice that you needed saving, mostly it is the person who accepts you for who you are, and the person that you are becoming"

"I may still not know what I want to be when I grow up, but I do know that someday I want to live in a house filled with my books and travel souvenirs. And the walls that aren’t covered in bookshelves will be covered with photos of my family and friends. When I leave the house I will be going to a job I love, and I’ll return to a person I love. So, that’s the dream I’m working on."
— Amber Morely
"Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want. Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true. You never know where the next miracle is gonna come from, the next smile, the next wish come true. But if you believe that it’s right around the corner, and you open your heart and mind to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it. You just might get the thing you’re wishing for. The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it. So make your wish. Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it. With all your heart."
— One Tree Hill
"My knees buckled, I went down to the floor. I cried in English, I cried in French, I cried in all the languages, because tears are the same all around the world."
— Miranda July
"What I need is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction."
— Gossip Girl
"I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best."
— Marilyn Monroe
Be wise enough not to be reckless, but brave enough to take great risks.
It’s okay to fail – learn from it and you will succeed.
It’s better to be pissed-off than pissed-on.
"Everyone has their weak spot. The one thing that, despite your best efforts, will always bring you to your knees, regardless of how strong you are otherwise."
— Sarah Dessen (Lock and Key)
"She was a smart girl, until she fell in love."
— Sex and the City
i want to know how exactly to define what life should be.. what i should be looking for and trying for. i can’t seem to understand society anymore. life in the silicon valley.. well, it’s been impressed upon me that my life should go something like this: finish college, get a good job, keep a good job, make a lot of money, meet a guy who has done these same things, date for a while, both should get masters/phds, get married, have children, give them everything i was given. but my question is.. who said this is the dream life of every silicon valley baby? when did it become unacceptable to fall in love with someone of a different background and status? what’s so wrong with moving to a quiet town, say in texas or oklahoma.. getting a small house or maybe a farm.. raising a family the old-fashioned way? you don’t need a 6-figure salary to maintain a happy life somewhere other than the bay area, LA, new york or other places like that. when did we all become so discontent and jaded that all that matters anymore is how much money you make.. what i really want to know is.. when did love get so discounted that it means less than 100K a year at a job that likely will ultimately make you miserable? and if your heart feels broken every day while you live in a 500K condo wearing designer clothes and eating expensive food, what’s that REALLY worth?
"About all you can do in life is be who you are. Some people will love you for you. Most will love you for what you can do for them, And some won’t like you at all."

"Anyone can become angry—that is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way—this is not easy."
— Aristotle
"A hug can turn your day around, it’s like an emotional Heimlich. Someone puts their arms around you, and they give you a squeeze and all your fear and anxiety comes shooting out of your mouth, and you can breathe again."
— Pushing Daisies
"We lie together. Smiling and holding on to each other and the night and the moment. We stare into each other’s eyes and softly kiss, speaking and saying more with the movement of our lips and the tips of our fingers, more than words will allows us to say. Words can’t say this. The one word love means too little for what it is. It means everything and that is still not enough. It doesn’t communicate even a fraction of the feelings involved. Love. The word is not enough for what it is. Love. Love."
— A Little Million Pieces, James Frey.
sometimes i feel like hope is a dangerous thing. it has both the power to keep us moving forward and the power to keep us from moving on. deciding on when to keep it in mind is probably one of the hardest decisions of all.
i want so badly to believe that
that there is truth,
that love is real.

"No matter how many times I tell you she’ll break your heart, or how many times she does it, you’ll never give up. Why, you ask? Because you love her."
— Great Expectations
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love."
— Washington Irving
"Commitment is the component of love. Short term commitment is the decision that one loves someone. The long term aspect is the commitment to maintain that love."
— Robert Steinberg
"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that’s just fabulous."
Take chances, take a lot of them. Because honestly, no matter where you end up and with whom, it always ends up just the way it should be. Your mistakes make you who you are. You learn and grow with each choice you make. Everything is worth it. Say how you feel always. Be you, and be okay with it..
